Crow Island School – As a registered National Historic Landmark, work at Crow Island Elementary School included infrastructure upgrades (boilers, chiller, lighting). Air conditioning was added to many classrooms that previously were served by heating only units. Tight coordination was completed to maintain the historic look and feel of the building and spaces while improving the comfort and safety of each space, and provide for the changing needs of today’s learning environment. The project also included a gymnasium addition designed to provide much needed modern space while still integrating into the existing building architecture.
Carleton Washburne School / Greeley School / Hubbard Woods School / The Skokie School – With the district’s historic schools, many of which were only partially air conditioned. Referendum renovations included boiler replacements, electrical service upgrades, chiller installations, lighting upgrades, VRF system installs, and safety and security upgrades. All systems were designed to create safe and comfortable spaces to facilitate learning while maintaining the historic look and feel of the school buildings that have become beloved by the community. Hubbard Woods School also included a building addition including a new multi-purpose space.
