THE National Bank
Elgin, Illinois
Architect: DLA Architects, Ltd.
Construction Cost: $3,162,031.00
THE National Bank, an 11,086 square foot new facility, was completed in 2009. The project team was tasked to design a facility that would meet the needs of their customers and community while maintaining THE National Bank corporate commitment to sustainable building practices. This requirement resulted in a facility that earned LEED Gold certification, one of only 3 banking facilities at the time to receive LEED Gold certification.
Building systems were modeled to ensure cost effective, environmentally sustainable solutions. The team decided on two high efficiency VAV rooftop units, incorporating air to air heat recovery. The units supply series flow fan powered VAV boxes with electric reheat. Daylight harvesting is used in the main banking hall in conjunction with a central lighting control system that ensures lighting is off in unoccupied spaces.
Additional sustainable features include sensor operated, low flow plumbing fixtures and a high efficiency sealed combustion water heater.
