BENJAMIN R. GWALTNEY
IT Manager
Mr. Gwaltney has 12+ years of experience in IT, with VMware, Network+, Cisco and other Military Grade training and certifications. He joined Mechanical Services Associates in 2017. Mr. Gwaltney brings domain infrastructure and security design experience from working with DoJ and DoD agencies. Mr. Gwaltney is currently active in the U.S. Air Force Reserve working as a Cyber Systems Engineer supporting an Intelligence and Reconnaissance squadron in collaboration with active and national guard elements. He previously served 7 years with the U.S. Army.
Mr. Gwaltney has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Technology from Western Governors University. Mr. Gwaltney’s responsibilities include network, website security and maintenance; design of technology infrastructures, system programming and low voltage system designs including: audio-visual, communication and security systems. Mr. Gwaltney is currently responsible for Cyber Operations and Security Vulnerability Interdiction and Hardening with the U.S. Air Force, Department of Defense and Department of Justice.
Mr. Gwaltney’s responsibilities within Mechanical Services include network and website security and maintenance; design of IT based network infrastructures, system programming and low voltage system designs including: audio-visual systems, communication systems and security systems.
Project Experience
Champaign Unit 4 School District: Teamed with Perkins+Will. Mr. Gwaltney was responsible for the design of a new network infrastructure, intercom system upgrades, new local sound and audio-video systems, new security access control, intrusion detection and camera systems for the Centennial and Central High Schools. Both facilities underwent a multiyear extensive addition and remodeling project that required major phasing and sequencing of system upgrades and replacement work.
Proviso Township High Schools D209: Teamed with Perkins+Will. Mr. Gwaltney was responsible for the design of network infrastructure upgrades, intercom system upgrades, new local sound and audio-video systems, security access control system upgrades and intrusion detection system upgrades for two High Schools and a Math & Science Academy. The work included: 3rd Floor Classroom remodeling, new Culinary Art Classroom, new Automotive Shop, new Advanced Manufacturing Lab, Parking Lot Security Gates and new Football Stadium Building and Press Box.
Hinsdale Township High School District 86: Teamed with ARCON Associates Inc. Mr. Gwaltney was responsible for the design of a new network infrastructure, network upgrades, new intercom system and new local sound and audio-video systems for the Central and South High Schools. Both facilities underwent a multiyear addition and remodeling project that required major phasing and sequencing of system upgrades and replacement work.
